Our story

The history of Rubysoft began well before the company itself was founded. The programmers behind Rubysoft Window today had already been active for many years in the development of 2D software for the timber and construction industries at Ingenieursgroep Kooijman during the 1990s. Building on that experience, the ambition emerged in mid-2006 to take the next step: developing software that not only creates drawings, but also provides spatial insight and brings production processes together.

As SketchUp began offering increasingly advanced possibilities for 3D modelling, development started on the first versions of a new generation of window and door frame software. The objective was clear: to make the power of 3D window and door frame design accessible to everyone, from home users and professionals in the design and architecture sectors to joinery and window frame manufacturers.

After the first versions were released, a visit to SketchUp (then owned by Google, in Denver, Colorado, USA) gave the software a major boost. Through this connection, the software gained significant international exposure, and licences were sold to users in more than 50 countries.

The Dutch joinery industry also recognised the development and potential of this new software. In close cooperation with some of the largest and most innovative joinery manufacturers, the software was completely redeveloped from the ground up and tailored to the day-to-day realities of the production environment.

Today, Rubysoft Window has been operating daily in many factories for years as the central hub where design, estimating, work preparation, BIM and production come together and connect seamlessly. By now, thousands of users worldwide have benefited from the software.

What began as an ambition to enable the transition from 2D to 3D has grown into a comprehensive software platform that helps users and joinery manufacturers design, develop and produce more efficiently, intelligently and with the future in mind.

Rubysoft therefore represents more than software alone: it is the result of years of practical experience, technological innovation and close collaboration with the industry.
